Our tipi poles form the backbone of every structure we create, providing the strength, stability and longevity that The Tipi Company is known for. We source some of the strongest poles available on the market, carefully selected to ensure each framework can withstand years of demanding outdoor use, with an expected lifespan of 15 years or more. Trusted across the industry year after year, our poles are engineered to deliver exceptional wind loading performance and maintain the integrity of the canvas in all weather conditions. Unlike other manufacturers, The Tipi Company is the only manufacturer to produce our entire pole framework in-house at our own woodyard and Tipi HQ in the UK, giving us complete control over the production process, craftsmanship and quality assurance from start to finish.
Harvested from sustainable forests in Northern Sweden, our poles are naturally slow-grown in freezing climates, with many trees taking over 100 years to fully mature. This creates a denser, stronger and more flexible timber compared to fast-grown UK spruce, which can reach maturity in just 8–12 years and lacks the same structural resilience. Every pole is precision manufactured to be consistently smooth and tapered from base to tip, ensuring complete uniformity throughout the framework — a crucial element for accurate engineered structural calculations and long-term performance. The result is a naturally superior pole that requires no chemical treatment or preservatives, offering outstanding durability while staying true to our commitment to quality craftsmanship and sustainability.
Our Coated Campshield FR canvas is at the heart of every tipi we create at The Tipi Company. Carefully selected for its exceptional durability and performance, this premium coated polycotton fabric is water-resistant, breathable, UV resistant and flame retardant — designed to withstand the demands of outdoor living in every season. Thanks to its patented quad-blend of fibres, the canvas is inherently flame-retardant, meaning it does not require annual reproofing treatments like many other canvases on the market. Available in both our signature Sand Beige and the beautifully understated Forest Green, the fabric allows our tipis to either stand out or sit naturally within their surroundings, making them ideal for countryside retreats, hospitality venues and outdoor adventure spaces alike.
Each tipi is carefully handcrafted by our skilled team using a considered blend of traditional heritage craftsmanship and modern 21st-century production techniques. From precision cutting and stitching through to reinforcement and finishing, every detail is thoughtfully executed to ensure exceptional longevity, strength and performance in the field. Years of hands-on experience, product development and customer feedback have helped shape a canvas system that not only performs beautifully in harsh outdoor environments, but also maintains the timeless aesthetic and character that defines The Tipi Company.
The engineering behind every tipi we create begins with our bracketry. At The Tipi Company, this is our secret weapon — the unseen strength at the core of every structure we manufacture. Born from our sister brand, The Awning Company, which has over 40 years of experience manufacturing outdoor structures from steel and aluminium, our foundations are built on decades of specialist engineering knowledge. Our founder carried that expertise directly into the design and development of our tipis, giving us a level of understanding in structural metalwork that is truly second to none. It is this wealth of experience that allows us to create frameworks that are not only beautifully designed, but exceptionally strong, durable, and capable of performing in demanding outdoor environments.
What truly sets us apart is that this capability exists entirely in-house. From concept through to production, our R&D team works closely with our skilled in-house welder to develop, test, and refine every component we produce. Every bracket is manufactured from tested mild steel and engineered specifically to strengthen and enhance the performance of our structures. Throughout our tipi range — from walls and entrances to link kits and bespoke additions — bracketry is the connection point that transforms a standard structure into a premium one. It is fundamental to our promise of quality, ensuring that every investment our customers make is backed by engineering that is built to last, perform reliably in the field, and stand stronger than anything else on the market.
